Arsenal 2011/2012

Back in Australia means I don't have much opportunities to watch the football live due to the time difference but since yesterday's game was an early I was able to follow the commentaries at least on the internet. Given it was against Liverpool I thought we could at least get a draw but to my disappointment it was not to be. I guess we didn't have much of a chance in a week when we sold our best player, have 2 players suspended, and a whole lot of injuries, but on paper, the team didn't really look too bad.

In Szczesny we have finally got a decent keeper, TV5 is now back as our centre back, Nasri surprisingly was in the team, and RVP was playing up front. Sure, our bench was a bit light but people need to step up to the plate. Although I haven't seen the highlights yet despite the scoreline I don't think we actually played too bad. Unfortunately for Wenger though the fans don't want to see pretty football any more, we need to see results. With the money we received for Cesc we really should be out there buying someone with experience. The bench yesterday had 4 players 20 years or below and when you are struggling you really want your experience players to step up and help guide your youngsters through. Sadly for the Gunners, their experience players like Arshavin was no where to be seen. Following the game online I see 'Arshavin gave the ball away', then I refreshed and saw the same thing thinking hey it didn't refresh but no, he really did give the ball away again inside 5 minutes.

Since it is still the start of the season, I don't think we should panic yet. We do have a lot of good young players and Miyaichi could be the next Asian superstar if he is given the chance. We really need to beat Udinese though to get into the Champion's League otherwise I don't know what the fans will do, maybe another riot in North London is on the cards! Mr Wenger though, has 10 days to spend some money and I really think he should just break the bank and buy an established star. Perhaps he should looking into Wesley Sneijder, Inter probably needs the money, and he can probably have the same impact as Dennis Bergkamp did back in the days! Also getting a star name under the noses of Man Utd should make the fans out there happier.

I don't understand anything you've just written.

Unlike Pooey, I do understand what you've written!

I agree with you regarding Arsenal needing established stars - it's great that he's trying to develop young players in the Barca mould (or at least, buy them while young, cheap, and promising), but there's something wrong when the interwebz refers to the team as the Arsenal Babies.

Not everyone turns out to be Cesc - sometimes they turn out to be Gourcuff (no knocks to Lashes, but he hasn't exactly stepped up since he won French player of the year).

@Pooey - It's OK, you don't need to understand.

@Mally - Bendtner is the greatest player ever, so great no one wants to buy him. I wanted to smack the kid who said his favorite player was Bendtner on my Arsenal tour. Even his dad stuggled to understand why he said that.
